福岡生まれ。
美術大学卒業後、インテリアショップに勤務し、ディスプレイやマネージメントを担当する。現在は、福岡市内にある自身のアトリエatelier de la paix(アトリエドラペ)にて陶器やファブリック、版画などを中心に制作。動物のオブジェや愛らしいイラストの絵皿など、その作品には朗らかな魅力があふれている。
鹿児島睦さんは、日常では好きな園芸のために過ごす時間も多く、パンジー、バラ、ナデシコ、といった身近な植物は作品のモチーフにもなっている。また、好きなものに中世ロマネスクの建築・彫刻がある。
