Jens H.Quistgaardは1919年デンマーク・コペンハーゲン生まれ。デンマーク王立芸術アカデミーの教授で彫刻家のハラルド・クィストゴーの息子。彫刻家、陶芸家、大工、製図工の勉強をする。戦争後フリーのデザイナーとなり1954年にLunning Prizeを獲得、同年DANSK社を設立。約30年間にDANSKで発売された大半の商品のデザインをする。経営者でありながら生産コスト重視とは異なる職人的な経験を大事にしたデザインでエナメル加工の色とりどりの鍋やチーク材を使った美しいデザインのアイスバケットやキャンドルスタンドなど数々の名作を残す。
