Ilmari Tapiovaara
[イルマリ・タピオヴァラ；イルマリ・タピオワラ]
1914-1999　フィンランド
1914年生まれ。1935年にロンドンのArtekオフィスで働き1937年にはパリのコルビュジェオフィスに勤務。1947年ヘルシンキのドムス・アカデミカの為にDomus chairをデザイン。Ilmari Tapiovaara独特のデザインだけでなくスタッキングできるなど機能面でも充実。1948年にMoMAの「Low cost furniture　competition」に出品。その後1953年シカゴのミース・ファン・デル・ローエオフィスで働く。Ilmari Tapiovaaraのデザインはフィンランド人らしく木を使ったものが多くてどこか愛嬌のあるPirkka、Domus、Nalle、Fanett Chairなど数々の名作を残すとともにミラノトリエンナーレなどで数々の賞も受賞。1999年没。
